Who else do we take cues from when it comes to Christmas decorating if its none other than the most celebrated family in the world: the Obamas. While Barack runs his presidential duties, Michelle who also took it to herself to campaign for causes such as healthy eating among Americans and awareness on issues such as poverty.
As part of the Christmas festivities, the White House is decorated with holiday decorations to celebrate the occasion with the theme “Shine, Give, Share”. A visit to the White House during the month of December will see you greeted by over 37 Christmas trees, a 400lb gingerbread house and a replica of the Obamas’ family dog, Bo in every room.
The official Christmas tree of the White House is the handsome balsam fir located in the Blue Room and is decorated with holiday cards by military children, medals, badges and patches from all the military branches.
Michelle also takes time off her busy schedule to spend some time with the kids of military families invited to be part of the unveiling of the White House’s Christmas festivities. We absolutely love how the Obamas injected their personality and soul into the decorating the White House. Many of the decorations were handcrafted and made with paper, felt or recycled cans, talk about going eco! The White House is expecting over 85,000 visitors to tour the Christmas decorations made by almost 100 holiday volunteers across the country.
