Flossing Apparently Doesn’t Offer Substantial Health Benefits

We’ve been told to floss all our lives to prevent cavities and gum disease, but have you ever questioned its benefits?

The American Dental Association (ADA) has been promoting floss since 1908.

However, according to the AP: “When the federal government issued its latest dietary guidelines this year, the flossing recommendation had been removed, without notice. In a letter to the AP, the government acknowledged the effectiveness of flossing had never been researched, as required.”

Have we been lied to all our lives? 🙁

Evidence for flossing from various research has also been “weak, very unreliable,” of “very low” quality, or carries “a moderate to large potential for bias.”
