UNIQLO has announced the launch of a special collection of items featuring traditional motifs of the Indonesian batik, a traditional Indonesian textile that was included on the UNESCO’s list of intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity in 2009.
This is the second program in the UNIQLO Factory Worker Empowerment Project where a portion of the profit is allocated for the employees working in Fast Retailing’s affiliated factories in Indonesia.
UNIQLO will donate part of the proceeds from select products to programs that provide educational support for female garment workers. The program helps these women to acquire a range of living skills, notably in basic nutrition, hygiene and healthcare.
The Batik Motif Collection will be made available at selected stores in Malaysia and online store on 10 June 2016.
