The 25th MTV Movie Awards this year was such a treat to movie fans all over the world. There was no dearth of entertaining moments–jokes, kisses, sketches, exclusive clips–we had such a hard time narrowing down our favourites. Here are a few moments we found noteworthy and even fulfilling:
The Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart Combination
We never thought that these two could gel so well! Hosts Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and comedian Kevin Hart recreated the scene from Mad Max Fury Road, complete with a flaming guitar and an entourage of followers flogging drums. If that wasn’t entertaining enough, the duo later transformed into superheroes Superman and Batman, and also rapped about Leo getting fu***d by a bear in The Revenant.
Chris Evans Giving Us A Sneak Peek Into Civil War
Chris Evans has his own superpower, the ability to make hearts melt all over the world with his perfect smile and sculpted biceps. The moment he got on stage, our hearts fluttered, and then we were shrieking when he unveiled an unseen footage over one minute from the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. Can’t wait to see you in Singapore, Chris!
Ryan Reynolds Winning the Best Comedic Performance for Deadpool
Every Deadpool fan knows the lengths that Ryan Reynolds had to go to just to get that movie made. As Reynolds aptly put it, it’s a “fan engineered film”, and he has shed pride, blood, sweat and his handsome mug to get it made. Ryan Reynolds being up there showed us that we fans still got the power, and we’re so happy that all his hard work finally paid off.
He also co-won Best Fight with his sexy British villain, Ed Skrein A.K.A Francis/Ajax.
Straight Outta Compton Actor Mocking the Oscars
“I’d just like to take a moment to like thank the Academy,” said actor Jason Mitchell, who portrayed the late Eazy-E in the movie. Mitchell then corrects himself and says he meant MTV. If you remember, the Oscars this year was under a lot of scrutiny for its lack of diversity, and thus resulting in the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
Straight Outta Compton is a biopic of the legendary California hip-hop music group N.W.A., whose debut album and title track is called “Straight Outta Compton”. They are remembered as the guys who influenced and changed hip-hop forever. The movie bagged the award for True Story.
The Rebel Wilson X Adam DeVine Kiss
It wasn’t just a shy pursing of the lips, it was wild! As Adam DeVine grabbed Rebel Wilson by her face, she threw her arm around his neck and ran her fingers through his hair, pressing hard into kiss. So much tension between the two, and it’s not surprising why they picked up the award for Best Kiss for Pitch Perfect 2.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens topped the list with 11 nominations and won three awards; Movie of the Year, Breakthrough Performance (Daisy Ridley a.k.a. Rey) and Best Villain (Adam Driver a.k.a Kylo Ren). Definitely a cathartic moment for those of us who were utterly disappointed that this masterpiece did not win an Oscar at the recent Academy Awards.
