The Masakini Theatre Company proudly presents Malaysia Kita – their latest strike into the world of shadow, which will be their third instalment in the WAYANG series. It had started off with The Story of Kuala Lumpur and followed by Malaysian stories. The constant theme in these productions is a distinct insight into this country we call home with all its idiosyncrasies and nuances.
Together with the talented local musician and composer Kevin Vong, and dancers from the esteemed Dua Space Dance Theatre, director and founder of Masakini Sabera Shaik will leave you in awe with this masterpiece. Masakini has conceptualised the art of shadow theatre to appeal to the modern audience by using the fundamentals of shadow theatre (wayang kulit) to create a very Malaysian story.
Malaysia Kita will show in Kuala Lumpur at Auditorium Bandaraya from March 30 to April 3rd (Wednesday to Sunday) at 8.30pm and then on to Seremban at JKKN Auditorium D’Sury on April 8th and 9th (Friday and Saturday) at 8.30pm. Tickets will be sold at RM23, RM53 and RM83 for the Kuala Lumpur shows and RM23 for the Seremban shows, and are available for purchase online at www.masakinitheater.com.my.
Aside from that, there will be a small charity show on Saturday, 2nd April 2016, in support of CherishLife Home – an animal welfare organisation fully committed to rescuing, treating and giving a home to stray dogs and cats. Tickets are available from CherishLife Home at RM99 and all proceeds will go towards the home. To purchase tickets for this show, contact May Kuen at maykuen@gmail.com or call 016-2227083.
