Sometimes it’s easy to think that our bras will last forever and there is probably not a need to change them. But like all things, there comes a time in a bra’s life when they simply needs to go. A lot of us try and make our bras last way longer than they should have but did you the lifespan of each bra is only between 6-12 months. If you’re not sure how to look out for a bra that’s ready to be tossed and replaced, here are some sure signs:
1. Your weight changed
Every time you’ve lost or gained more than 5kg, it’s a sure sign that you need a new bra. You’ll find that they’re either too loose or too tight, so that’s already an indication you need to toss out the old pair and get a new one. For your bra to do it’s job and support your breasts correctly, they need to fit properly.
2. The band won’t fit correctly
Even on its tightest closure, you still can’t get the band to fit snugly, then replace your bra. Bra bands are very prone to stretching over time, which is totally normal. A good thing to do is always buy a bra that’s fits you best when fastened on the loosest hook. This way, when the band stretches in time, you can still use other closures.
3. Your bra has broken hooks
Your bras depend on these hooks to fasten properly and if they are broken then the bras cannot fasten securely, which leads to improper support. This can happen when your bras are washed in the washing machine or dryer. So, care for your undergarments!
4. You can see visible damages
I would rather have a few good bras than many ugly ones and by ugly I mean, ones with stain and ones that don’t work. There is no point keeping them if they are in bad condition. Even laundry day calls for a good pair of bra, okay ladies!
5. Wires are poking out
If you don’t change your bras when you start feeling the underwire jabbing into you then I have no words. Don’t even bother trying to save the bra, just get a new one!
