This holiday season, MyTeksi and Science of Life Studies 24/7 (SOL 24/7), an NGO that focuses on educating and empowering the lives of those in rural communities, are collaborating on a donation drive to collect used toys and English children’s books for 2,000 children in underprivileged communities.
According to MyTeksi’s Regional Marketing Head, Cheryl Goh, the aim of “Delivering Happiness” is to collect enough toys and books from the general public to fill 20 toy libraries in rural areas like Minusuh (Sabah), Kulim (Kedah) and Sungai Suloh (Johor Bahru).
What’s great is that through this collaboration, donating is now really convenient. The cab-booking service’s large network of taxis will help collect the donations from the donors’ homes over four weekends.
Here’s how you can celebrate the gift of giving in three simple steps:-
1. From 28th December 2013 to 19th of January 2014 (only weekends), prepare 5 toys, 5 English children books or a mixture of both suitable for children between the age of 8 to 14.
2. Use the MyTeksi application to make a booking from the donor’s location to MyTeksi headquarters (MYTEKSI HQ).
3. When the taxi arrives at the pick-up point, the items(toys/books) should be placed in the taxi and the taxi will make their way to MyTeksi’s headquarters.
The taxi fare for the trip will be borne by MyTeksi, and will be paid to the driver upon arrival at the headquarters. From there, the gifts that were donated will be handed over to SOLS 24/7 to be distributed to the toy libraries.
Usher in the New Year with positivity by not forgetting those who are less privileged, so donate and bring smiles to over 2,000 children and let them begin the New Year with a happy heart!
