Just recently an article about the 10 Most Dangerous Cities in the World went viral across the feeds of Malaysian Facebook users, mainly because Malaysia, a country that “boasts beautiful scenery” was rated as the 6th most dangerous city in the world.
It’s no surprise with the alarming crime rates that have been rising up higher and higher than before. Petty crime is no longer an assault that we can move on from, now that assailants are becoming more brutal and cunning.
“Malaysia also boasts beautiful scenery, culture and history of violence. Now the nation’s capital is one of the most dangerous cities in the world – the crime rate over the past three years has increased by 70%. Previously, it was pretty bad, but for now, it seems, everything is getting worse.”
If you take a good look at the list, you’ll see that Kuala Lumpur is ranked more dangerous than Johannesburg, South Africa. A town that lets women run red lights for their own safety. We kid you not!
San Pedro Hula, Honduras was ranked the top most dangerous city due to its high crime rate with 169 violent deaths per 100,000 people. While the average number of deaths in Malaysia in about 500 as opposed to 100,000, it’s still embarrassing to see our home state in the list.
What do you think about the safety of people in Malaysia?
