Since summer is arriving ( and it is almost always summer in Malaysia because it’s so sunny and hot), it’s about time you took care of your skin’s need. The easiest and fastest way to ensure it doesn’t get dry and appear dull is by keeping hydrated and basic care. Keeping your face hydrated is really easy, it’s a matter of following some simple steps.

1. Drink Water

We can’t seem to stress this enough! Your body consists of almost 75% of water, which is why it is crucial for you to constantly drink water to ensure your body stays hydrated and that you have enough water in your system. We recommend carrying a water bottle wherever you do. That’s the easiest way to instil the water drinking habit.

2. Moisturize

Everyone has different type of skin and some require more work than others. You not only have to moisturize your face, but your whole body as well. Use a facial moisturizer cream for your face and use a body lotion that contains ingredients like jojoba oil, or cocoa butter. Those work great in keeping your skin moist and healthy!

3. Exfoliate

Exfoliate your skin once a week. Do not over-do it, once a week is perfect to remove all the dead skin cells off your face and body. This allows your moisturizers to fully help your skin from dehydration.  Over exfoliating can lead to you to damage your skin as it will result in your skin being too dry, and flaky. It can also strip your skin of it’s natural oils.

4. Eat Healthy

This does not mean you need to only eat vegetables, however a well balanced meal (with a few cheat foods here and there) is completely fine. When you eat foods that have sufficient amount of nutrients, it will effect how your skin looks and will definitely help keep it hydrated. Try watermelons and celery as both these food have a high percentage of water in them.

5. Sunblock

As the sun gets hotter, the more it effects your skin! The UV rays from the sun can be harmful, and be the main cause of dehydration. Protect your skin by using sunblock before you go out and try to limit exposure to them sun to avoid your skin from becoming too dry. Find a good sunblock that contains titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, avobenzone, or mexoryl as its active ingredient. Use it for both your face as well as your body!
