You Can Definitely Relate To These 4 Things If You’re A New Mom

Being pregnant is one of the best times for many moms. It gives you cravings you can satisfy without having anyone questioning you back whether or not you did the right thing eating the chocolate muffin, sleep will be your best friend, and of course, lounging all day long will not be a problem. Additionally, with all that extra glow on the skin, thanks for the pregnancy hormones, will make you want to dress up and flaunt that radiant skin and voluminous tresses.

However, it’s a complete different ball game once pregnancy ends. Obviously nothing in the world beats caressing the little human you gave birth to, but the feelings after having the baby changes, and it’s nothing as per the context in your many pregnancy and ‘How to be a New Mom’ books. If you’re a new mom and experience these feelings, it’s just about right, because being a new mother not a bed of roses, or as glamorous as how social media depicts.

Here are 4 things you might experience as a new mom.

1. “I Have No Idea What I’m Doing!”

As new moms, nobody expects you to know motherhood or how you should handle a new born, although you’ve heard it many times before that motherhood is in a woman’s DNA. The role of motherhood is a series of continuous journey of making mistakes and learning faster than you thought. It can also be an emotional roller-coaster ride, but it’s true that you sort of grow into the role when you become a mom. But can you find a woman who isn’t terrified of motherhood? It’s a Herculean task. The truth is that many of us feel lost sometimes and don’t exactly know what we’re doing.

2. “Hey, I’m There Too, You Know.”

Although we can’t exactly blame the little one for being the center of attention, we can say that making the mother feel as if she’s invisible isn’t right either. The first thing visitors tend to ask while visiting you and the baby is “Where’s the baby??”, while completely ignoring the fact that you were the one who gathered superpowers to endure several hours of painful labour and currently undergoing post-partum depression. Your identity is automatically tied to the baby which is not necessary, as you’re still the person you were before the baby.

3. “Nah, I Don’t Need To Lose The Baby Weight Immediately.”

Pregnancy comes in a package, which includes a ton of weight gain and a body different from what you had. It’s common to expect women to lose baby weight right after delivery.  However, new moms need to know that losing all the baby weight right away is not only ridiculous but the least important thing to focus on right after having the baby. You’ll have other issues which needs more attention like feeding the baby around the clock, staying emotionally and mentally sane, eating right and healing well. You don’t need to live up to this crazy expectation. And no, it doesn’t mean you’re lazy if you don’t want to lose all the weight right away.

4. “Visitors! Please, Go Home.”

It’s great that many are eager to visit you and the baby, but in reality, that’s the last thing a new mom would want. A new mom needs her space after all the exhaustion, sleepless nights, endless duties and around-the-clock feeding. At this time, it’s really difficult for her to be the perfect hostess. Therefore, if you need to excuse yourself from the crowd, so be it. You and your baby comes first.
