You might have just had a new born baby or are a mother of grown-ups. Regardless. Every mother should remember that they too exist and need some time for themselves. I’ve come across many mothers who feel the right thing to do is leaving their priorities in the backseat while devoting their lives entirely for the family, even if it means they have to run the household, family and kids like a headless chicken.

It is important to come to realization that being a mother shouldn’t change who you are, your ambitions, and your priorities. For every mother, their children mean the whole world to them, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, that doesn’t mean you should cut back on self-love and me-time. In order to run a healthy and happy family, we must ensure that we are fueling ourselves with the positivity and love It’s a reset button we need to press for some recharge and alone-time.

If you are a mother to a newborn, we can’t emphasize enough the important of ‘me-time’. It’s a absolute game-changer. With the countless things you have to do in a day, not forgetting the continuous feeding and lack of sleep. To top it all, having to entertain visitors when you could use that time for a hot bath or quick snooze.

However, me-time is very important—enough that you need to find a way to squeeze it into your routine. Here are 5 reasons that all mom’s need ‘me-time’.

1. It replenishes you

After a long day of multitasking, you need to gives your mind and body a break it deserves. In order to perform the same routine again the next day, you need to conserve your energy and replenish yourself. If you restrain yourself from self-love and ‘me-time’, you will feel sluggish and find it hard to cope with the hectic routine. Therefore, give yourself a break and recharge, you will feel like a new person altogether ready to take on the day with a smile.

2. Allows your baby to bond with others

Being a mother to a newborn doesn’t mean the baby has to be by your side all the time. it’s prudent to give yourself some time away from your baby without constantly worrying about their well-being. With you being away for a little while will give a chance to other family members to bond with the baby.  Your baby can not be emotionally depended on you as it will not cater to their mental well-being and brain development. Your child will learn to think of opinions and solutions by themselves which is important for an independent mindset. Hence, it is important for your child to be away from their mothers just for a few hours.

3. Gives you time to reconnect with your partner

Being a mother takes up a lot of your time, which means, lesser time spent with your partner. Many relationships take a turn after having a baby because they do not set time aside for their better half, and whole day is dedicated for their little ones. It’s crucial to balance time between your kids and spouse, because they’re both equally important. Make the time spent with your spouse as part of your ‘me-time’. Enjoy a hot-tub session, make it movie night, dress up for a date night, or simply enjoy each other’s company over a cup of coffee. Find comfort and recharge yourself with your spouse.

4. It makes you a better mom

To raise a child requires energy, patience and a healthy mind. For your kids to have all of these, it is important for you to inculcate these habits too. By looking after yourself, you’re also looking after your mental and physical well-being. Only then you’re able to pour positivity and love into your children. If you constantly feel cooped up, stressed and depressed, your kids will also feel the same because you emit the energy to your surroundings. Be aware of your emotion and feelings. Allowing ‘me-time’ will retune your emotions and state of mind.
