In the name of science, 113 newlyweds were examined by researchers at Florida State University to discover how the respective attractiveness of partners influence the overall level of happiness in relationships.

Results of the study confirmed that women are happier when their partner is less attractive than they are, because having a physically attractive husband may be accompanied by negative consequences like infidelity, especially if those wives are not particularly as good-looking.
Research also found that women with attractive husbands are more likely to diet and obsess over their own appearance. Like we don’t already have enough (non-relationship related) problems to worry about..
On the other hand, men tend to be happier when in a relationship with a partner that is more attractive. That could be why they go for women that are wayyy out of their leagues.
