Travelling with your significant other for the first time can sometimes be compared to opening up Pandora’s Box. Because there’s just a whole lot of crap that you didn’t know was in there! You may think you know them because they are your soul mate but sh*t don’t get real until the two of you break the hypothetical hymen of travelling as a couple.
Until you have experienced jetlag and endured a long flight together, yours and your partner’s true colours won’t show. When travelling with your SO, everything will seem awkward but eventually it will turn into an awesome learning experience. Here are some of the things that might happen during your vacay together:
“Shut the f–k up, I need to concentrate on being terrified!”
Personally, I am terrified of flying. Like ridiculously but genuinely scared to death of it. Something about not being close to the ground makes my a—hole want to disappear and every second is a frightening experience. It turns me into a complete freak. So, you might also find out a few weird things like this (that may seem completely irrational) about your partner when you travel with them.
“Should I wear this? What do you mean if I want to? Which one looks nicer?!”
Travelling with your partner means it’s just the two of you in some strange country with stranger people around, so when you need fashion advice, you can only turn to one another. Thank your lucky stars if he’s helpful!

Long flights or bus rides will make you experts at silence. It’s not uncomfortable but time to just collect your thoughts like you would when you’re alone. Doesn’t mean you’re not enjoying each other’s company.
“I have a bad tummy! I’m sorryyyyyyy…”
If you don’t already live with your partner, this will be the first step to uncharted territory. You’re just going to have accept the fact that the thin glass door ain’t not the least bit luxurious. In fact, it will be your enemy because whatever sound you make in there, he is going to here.
“Just leave me alone!”
Again, if you’re not already sharing a living space with your partner, you can find that when you’re both travelling together it can get overwhelming. You’re in each other’s bubble all the time and if you get a little irritated, it’s totally normal.
“I’m having the best time with you. We should go to (insert destination) next time.”
The best part about travelling with your partner is the fact that you’ll get some quality bonding time and if you thought you were close before, know that after a trip together, you will become even closer.
