TripAdvisor™ just announced its Travellers’ Choice™ awards for Landmarks and this year, it honours over 700 landmarks globally including lists for Asia, Africa, Caribbean, Europe, South America, the South Pacific, the U.K., and the U.S. The annual awards are based on the reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers across the globe. Award winners are determined via an algorithm that considered the quantity and quality of reviews for the landmarks over a 12-month period.
Angkor Wat in Cambodia topped the world list, followed by Machu Picchu in Peru and India’s Taj Mahal. Southeast Asia made up six of the top ten spots on the Asia list. Travellers’ Choice Landmarks also honoured the top ten landmarks in Malaysia, with Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC, Bukit Bintang Walkway and Penang Heritage Trust ranked in the top three. The Petronas Twin Towers was also named 5th on the Asia list.
