Ford, together with Sime Darby Auto Connexion, recently launched the new Focus in Malaysia. Refreshed outside and inside, the new Ford Focus has a bolder, stylish exterior and is equipped with an array of smart technologies powered by a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, possibly making it the most powerful small car in Malaysia pumping out an impressive 180PS of power and 240Nm of torque.
The Ford Focus comes with SYNC™ 2, the latest in-car connectivity system with an eight-inch touchscreen to operate phone, entertainment and climate control using voice command. Its Enhanced Active Park Assist takes control of the car’s steering to guide the vehicle into the available perpendicular or parallel space. With two new ultrasonic sensors on the rear of the car, Park-Out Assist also helps the vehicle to exit a parking space.
When driving up to 50km./h, the Focus’ Active City Stop system helps to avoid low-speed collisions by pre-charging the brakes if the car is approaching a vehicle in front too quickly. To encourage more safety, car owners can also programme a spare key to certain limits and settings with Ford MyKey when lending their car to less experienced drivers.
Featuring a 1.5 litre EcoBoost engine and a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, the Focus delivers a refined drive and efficient fuel economy. Drivers can change gears without taking their hands off the Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) wheel with paddle shift controls, and its engine uses EcoBoost technologies of turbocharging, high-pressure direct fuel-injection and Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing to ensure optimum performance.
All these smart features come packaged in a sophisticated exterior that is curated from customer feedback over the years. The new Ford Focus has a simpler, more intuitive interior with a variety of convenient storage options, like the bottle and cup holders. The thicker side-window glass, thicker carpets and sound-insulating windshield glass provides cabin quietness for a more polished drive.
The new Focus is priced from RM118,888 on the road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia and RM123,388 in East Malaysia for the Trend variant, and is available in six colours: Frozen White, Panther Black, Ingot Silver, Candy Red, Magnetic and Winning Blue. On the other hand, the Focus Titanium+ (4 door) and Sport+ (5 door) on the road without insurance is priced at RM139,888 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM144,588 in East Malaysia.
