The Olympics mixed doubles final proved to be too much for Malaysian shuttlers Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying.
Having said that, the pair still did Malaysia proud by bringing home a silver medal after being defeated by Indonesian Liliyana Natsir and Tontowi Ahmad. They are also the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to ever win an Olympic medal.
The final score was 21-14, 21-12. It’s the second time both the mixed doubles pairs had met at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Indonesian shuttlers defeated Peng Soon and Liu Ying last Saturday in the Group Play Stage, winning 21-15, 21-11.
