The Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner – frequently labeled as reunion dinner – is a very important meal for all Chinese families, especially for those with family members who are constantly away from home. It’s a joyous time of togetherness and a strong symbol of union.
To emulate a similar homey environment and offer mouthwatering food without the hassle of preparations at home, Sunway Putra Hotel invites you for a unique and auspicious Chinese New Year reunion dinner experience at its Coffee House with a menu that features a sumptuous selection of international fare for all to enjoy.
Some of the items available at the buffet include Oysters and Green Mussels, Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Ginseng, Chicken Barbecue, Peking Duck Pizza, Asian Seafood Buttered Spaghetti, a Cheese Platter, sushi and many more.
A few of the more memorable dishes for us were the Braised Sea Cucumber, Pipa Chicken, Hot and Sour Szechuan Soup, Black Pepper Beef, the Indian selection of various curries and the bountiful salads.
Chinese tradition calls for yee sang and we were glad to find a salmon yee sang offering at the buffet. We couldn’t toss the yee sang, but at least we got a taste of it and it was one of the better ones we’ve tried. The plum sauce that went with the yee sang was slightly tangy and was very fragrant.
Aside from all the savoury items, the dessert counter blew our socks off. There were rows after rows of delectable cakes and pastries, a chocolate fondue which was a hit with the kids, tarts, an ice cream selection and many more.
Even though it isn’t your typical Chinese New Year reunion dinner, we appreciated the vast selection of buffet items and we’re sure that the offerings will satiate everyone of all ages in the entire family. After all, it’s a great feeling not to be meddling with cooking for an auspicious celebration like Chinese New Year, don’t you think? 🙂
For a more private Chinese New Year gathering, Sunway Putra Hotel is also offering a Toss to Prosperity menu – a nine course dinner priced at only RM1888 nett for a table of 10, with a minimum booking of 20 pax.
Guests who wish to purchase the yee sang separately can also do so at the Atrium Lounge at Level 9. The regular yee sang is priced at RM68 nett and the salmon yee sang is priced at RM88. Each box of yee sang will serve about four to five people.
Sunway Putra Hotel‘s Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner Buffet will be available on the 7th of February 2016 from 6pm to 10.30pm at the Coffee House on Level 9. The buffet is priced at RM108 nett per adult and RM54 nett per child below the age of 12.
