Ah, relationships. We always think we’re the ones with the biggest problems until something from the media hits us hard and sends us home with pensive looks across our faces. More often that not, we cringe at celebrity news especially if they involve, uh, not so positive vibes (such as abruptly calling it quits).
So, here are some celebrity “so long, farewell”s that got to us this year:
Leonardo DiCaprio & Blake Lively
After Bar Rafaeli, it was only apt that another beautiful, sunny blonde should fall on Leonardo DiCaprio’s lap. And naturally, although she’s no runway model, Blake Lively seemed to be the choice starlet to be dating – Gossip Girl fame and all. Back in May, the couple went public when they were seen hugging and canoodling aboard Steven Spielberg’s yacht.
With that, their relationship began. Blake and Leo reportedly traveled from Monte Carlo to Venice, Italy to California, New York, and even Australia. But, like a whirlwind, their adventurous romance left as fast as it came. Five months later (even after rumours of an engagement), they couple called it quits. And as they all say, “they remain friends”.
Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver
Why do great men with power cheat? All was well in the household of action star and former California governer, Arnold Schwarzenegger until the one fine day that his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, pick up on a piece of news that wrecked their marriage. We say, “all was well in the household” – and it was. For Arnold anyway.
It turned out that he fathered a love child with their household nanny. Maria then confronted him with the information after confronting the housekeeper what she had suspected about the child. And in July, she made their split official by filing for divorce.
Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez
They have beautiful careers, kids, and voices. But they also had a beautiful marriage that was inching towards the “seven year itch”. They say that the seven to 10 year mark is a crucial time where people start to think about jumping out of marriages. Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez conveniently fell into that statistic.
Seven years after their wedding day, the couple filed for divorce. It shocked the media and their fans but we hear that they’re civil and are somewhat still “together” because of their shared businesses. Oh well, as long as their beautiful twins are okay, we’re okay!

You might’ve already read about it here or heck, read about it anywhere on the web. Because Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries made international headlines all up in our faces this year with, firstly, the most over-the-top, highly publicized wedding to the most pathetic end. Their crazily lavish wedding was aired over a two-night special that reportedly drew an average of four million viewers.
And then, less than two months later, Kim announces that she’s filing for a divorce. Like, what? We can’t even begin to understand. Does anyone not respect the sanctity of marriage anymore? Wait, was the entire wedding and marriage scripted from the very beginning? Oh, Kim, we can’t keep up with you.

She was officially named the “Hollywood cougar” when she decided to date a (then) boy who was more than 10 years her junior. Their high-profile relationship was soon under the scrutiny of fans, not fans, and media around the world. Will they make it? Will they not?
Six years ago, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore tied to knot and we thought their fates were sealed with being the poster couple for older women marrying younger men.
