The world’s most coveted, scantily-clad fashion extravaganza is being filmed in New York today as we speak and the annual installment of Victoria’s Secret’s Fashion Show is targeted to air on the 29th of November 2011. Girls have dreamt of someday wearing the beautiful over-the-top angel wings, men have dreamt of the smoking hot bodies of the famous “Angels” (and then some).
But do you know what goes on backstage at a Victoria’s Secret show?
The entire event, headed by a diligent team of designers, seamstresses, embroiderers, prop makers, technicians and musicians, not to mention a sashaying throng of beautiful models, costs about USD12 million (RM37 million) to produce.
And that’s just the cost alone.
This year, 38 gorgeous models will wear 69 outfits, and only a lucky few will don the 31 “Victoria’s Secret Angel” wings. By lucky, we mean those who aren’t newcomers, and the “Angels” who have worked hard to stay goddess-like for the show.
Shocking news reports have revealed that top Brazilian model, Adriana Lima has committed to double workouts a day with a personal trainer for months on end and is gorging on only protein shakes with powdered egg for nine days straight before the show. Lima also drinks a gallon of water a day to keep her going. Strictly no solids.
Whereas her colleague, the beautiful Chanel Iman is doing the complete opposite! Chanel is blessed with an extremely high metabolic rate so she struggles to keep her weight on. Her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show regime? To binge and gain 15 pounds in order to look her best.
New mom Miranda Kerr has also revealed that she has been working out all year long in preparation for everyone’s favourite lingerie show. Her killer post-baby body is all thanks to extreme yoga and pilates. In an exclusive interview, drop dead gorgeous Miranda said, “I put weights on my ankles and do legs lifts. It burns”. Ouch!
Well now, isn’t it ironic that an “Angel” would need to go through hell just to stay on top of her game? We didn’t say that being an “Angel” was easy!
