The new school session will begin a week later throughout the nation due to the floods.
The new term will start on January 11 (Sunday), while for other states, the term will start on January 12 (Monday).
As of Sunday, 340 schools were affected by the severe floods. Some schools are also being used as flood relief centres.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin mentioned that the respective school management must organise gotong-royong to clean up the schools so that students can study in a safe and comfortable environment.
