Namewee, or Wee Meng Chee, is to be arrested immediately upon his return to Malaysia over his controversial “Oh My God” music video which mocks religion.
According to Penang Northeast District police chief Mior Farid Alatrash Wahid, Namewee would be arrested to facilitate investigations into the music video as he allegedly insulted Islam and other faiths. He is currently overseas.
Reports against his “Oh My God” music video were lodged by 20 NGOs, with several others lodged at the Jalan Patani police station.
The case is now being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code for defiling a place of worship with the intent of insulting a religion.
