Do you find yourself looking for healthier alternatives when eating out that isn’t salad? From burgers to rice and smoothie bowls, these are the hottest healthy eateries within the Klang Valley.

1. Meatless Sandwiches at The Good Co.

For on-the-go lunches that are packed with everything good and meat-free, we love the Meatless Sandwiches at The Good Co., Bangsar. Try the Daging Tarik (herb bread, pulled shredded oyster mushrooms, batavia lettuce) for a truly fulfilling sandwich experience.

The Good Co., 184, Jalan Maarof, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

2. Wholemeal Burgers at HALE, Healthy Fast Food

Sometimes, all you need is a damn good burger that’s good for you. HALE, Healthy Fast Food serves up healthier forms of fast food, such as the oven baked Australian Grass-Fed Beef Burger. Not a fan of burgers? We hear the Pesto Pasta is worth a try.

HALE, Lot 1-20, First Floor, Menara Hap Seng, Jalan P. Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur. Delivery service also available.

3. Vegetarian Nasi Lemak at Simple Life

Dishes at Simple Life does not contain MSG, trans fats, colouring or preservatives – they only use natural and organic ingredients. The Brown Rice Nasi Lemak here is fragrant, coco-nutty and accompanied by acar, cucumber, crackers deep fried woodear strips, cabbage and carrot sambal, rendang tempeh and pumpkin. Though the rendang tempeh didn’t fully satisfy our meat cravings, the sambal holds the dish together beautifully.

Simple Life, LG-232A, Lower Ground Floor, The Gardens Mall, Lingkaran Syed Putra, Mid Valley City, 59200 Kuala Lumpur.

4. Smoothie Bowls at Rubberduck

Famous for their vibrant smoothie bowls, this tropical cafe were the first to introduce the smoothie bowl to Malaysians. Our favourite is the Berry Bowl – full of fresh berries, homemade granola, coconut flakes, flaxseed and sprinkled with deliciously vibrant fresh fruits! It’s the only way to power up for the week.

Rubberduck, 60 Jalan Sri Hartamas 1, Plaza Damas, Lot K-0-8B (Ground Floor), Dorchester Service Apartment, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

5. Healthy Sobas at La Juiceria Superfoods

Located within the affluent Verve Suites, La Juiceria Superfoods is dedicating itself to serve healthy and tasty meals for all. The Smoked Duck Soba is a must-order everything we’re here. The smoked duck was flavourful and went well with the healthy and Shoyu sesame-dressed charcoal Soba noodles after a quick toss with the soft boiled Kampung egg – like comfort food, but way better for you.

La Juiceria Superfoods is located at G-2, Level G, Verve Shops, Jalan Kiara 5, 50480 Kuala Lumpur.

6. Brown Rice Noodles at Ashley’s by Living Food

A quick look at the menu and you already know that you’re going to be treated well here at Living Food Bistro’s sister outlet. Try the Borneo Laksa for a healthy twist of everyone’s favourite Sarawak Laksa – made with brown rice vermicelli, spicy laksa almond milk broth served with miso sambal and side dishes for both vegans and flexitarians.

Ashley’s by Living Food, 11, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.
