Christmas is coming and we’re all busy decorating our homes for the holiday season. Christmas decorations can cost you a lot if you’re not careful with your money, but you can always save up a lot by making your own! Here are six simple and festive Christmas decorations you can make at home.

Santa Hat Chair Covers

Give your dining area a fun and festive flair by dressing your chairs up with Santa hats. To make these chair-sized Santa hats, measure the back section of the chair’s length and width to assign how much red fabric is needed. Then cut up the fabric according to the measurements, allowing two extra inches to sew up the seams. Include a triangle shape in your fabric for the Santa hat tip. The fabric should look like it has a rectangle and a triangle joined to it. Sew up the edges, iron the fabric, and cut up the tip of the triangle. Then, sew a piece of white fabric on the lower part of the red fabric. Cut out another circular piece of fabric and sew it to the triangular tip of the fabric. When it’s complete, iron it out and place it over your dinner chairs!

Handmade Pasta Christmas Tree

Give your home a vintage Christmas feel with some adorable Christmas trees made out of pasta shells! Grab a piece of cardboard and roll it up so that it looks like a cone. In a bowl, collect a handful of macaroni, pasta ribbons, shells, penne, etc. Using craft glue, apply it to the pasta pieces and push the pasta on the cone and hold on to it until it sticks. Continue according to your preferred design. Then grab your spray paint in your favorite colour, and spray over the entire tree. Repeat a few times to get the paint between all nooks and crannies. Let it dry overnight. Light pastel shades makes your tree look like porcelain!

Christmas Glitter Candle Jars

If you have a few old jam jars lying around, turn them into gorgeous pieces of decor that light up the room! First, grab a clean mason jar and stick a few Christmas-themed decals like snowflakes or trees. You can make your own using paper. After sticking the decals, grab a can of spray paint or glass paint, and paint the entire jar. Once it dries, remove the decals. You can also do this with your clear vases at home.

Reindeer Canvas Art
Let the kids in your family contribute to your stack of Christmas decorations by making reindeers with their little feet! You need a clean art canvas and some watercolour paint in brown, red, blue and black. Paint your children’s feet with the brown paint, and plant it on the canvas. When it’s clean, grab a brush and using red paint, paint a circle at the heel of the foot. Then use blue paint to draw the eyes, and use black paint to draw the antlers. Let it dry, and hang it proud on your walls.

Glamorous Sequin Ornaments
Want glitz and glamor on your Christmas tree? Give your tree a touch of fabulousness by making your own sequin Christmas tree ornaments! All you need is a few styrofoam balls, lots of sequins and equal amounts of pins. Simply stick the pin onto the styrofoam ball and repeat until it’s fully covered.

Popsicle Stick Snowflake Wall Decals
Want to decorate your falls with festive decorations without leaving marks? Create snowflakes with popsicle sticks! Collect as many popsicle sticks (or straws) and glue them up together to form the shape of a snowflake. Use Modge Podge or strong craft glue so that it doesn’t break apart when it’s hung up. Paint the snowflakes using wet paint or spray paint if you prefer, and let dry. Tie a piece of ribbon to hang them on your wall.
