Huawei Malaysia this week announced the arrival of the productivity-driven Huawei Mate 8 smartphone that offers significantly enhanced power, efficiency and battery life with its Kirin950 chipset, ARM Cortex-A72 processor and a 16 nm FinFET plus chip technology, which are industry firsts.

With slim edges at 2.7mm, the Huawei Mate 8 has a screen-to-body ratio of 83% and it is the most compact smartphone yet even though it boasts a large 6-inch FHD screen with negative LCD. Made from aerospace-grade alluminium, the Mate 8 comes in a metallic unibody design that is finished with great precision and fine detailing.

With its innovative thermal conductivity structure, the Mate 8’s design allows for higher heat dispersion and lower power consumption. Equipped with a 4000 mAH high-density battery, the Mate 8 has an amazing battery life of a whopping 2.36 days per full charge. With this device, you can say goodbye to carrying bulky external battery packs around.

The Mate 8 comes equipped with a rear camera that features Sony’s 16MP stackable sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1/2.8 light sensor size. With faster processing speeds, it allows for quicker focusing with Phase Detection Auto Focus, higher clarity and more accurate colour shading. Users can simply touch the shutter, and the Mate 8 will calculate the distance between the lens and correct focal point for high-quality photos.

On top of that, the camera on the Mate 8 comes with several notable functions including slow motion, continuous capture mode, and professional mode. Love taking selfies? The Mate 8 also comes with an impressive 8MP front camera for better photos.

For better data security, the Mate 8 is designed with a fingerprint sensor that increases the effective identification area by 10%, requiring three levels of biometrics information before the device can be unlocked. With this, consumers can utilise fingerprint payment services with a peace of mind. Even the MicroSD card can be locked for enhanced data protection.

Other features in the Huawei Mate 8 we love include the omnidirectional audio recording and playback that makes documenting conference meetings a breeze, its highly sensitive voice recognition technology, and Knuckle Sense 2.0, which allows users to take full or partial screenshots and record video by tapping on the screen with their knuckles.

Huawei’s Mate 8 smartphone retails for RM2,099 (Standard) or RM2,399 (Premium) comes in four different colours: Champagne gold, Moonlight silver, Space grey and Mocha brown. The Mate 8 smartphone is now offered through telco partners Maxis, Celcom, Digi, and RedOne, and is available via VMall or Lazada. For more specifications, check out Huawei Malaysia’s Facebook page.
