Get Inspired With The U.K.’s ‘This Girl Can’ Campaign

We live in a world where photoshop literally blurs our perception of beauty. There is so much pressure that some women are hesitant to work in fear of what they would look like when they actually do hit the gym. But thanks to the U.K.’s ‘This Girl Can’ PSA advertisement, you will want to hit the gym after work and break a sweat.

Working out is great. It makes you feel good about yourself, makes you happy and of course it will only shape you to be a healthier person. Some people confuse working out as a method to only lose weight instead of a method to stay healthy. Sports England, an organisation that’s funded by the governments reminds Brits to get physically active. A research revealed that while a lot of women from the age of 14-40 may want to get exercising, they do feel self conscious about how they might look while doing so.

“Before we began this campaign, we looked very carefully at what women were saying about why they felt sport and exercise was not for them,” said Jenny Price, the CEO of Sports England. “Some of the issues, like time and cost, were familiar, but one of the strongest themes was a fear of judgment. Worries about being judged for being the wrong size, not fit enough, and not skilled enough came up time and again.”

But it seems like this campaign has really taken off and people everywhere around the world, including myself are getting completely inspired and motivated. You can find the campaign blowing up on Twitter too, with the hashtag: #thisgirlcan
