The much-awaited Japanese Film Festival is back for its 12th year to selected Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) nationwide! The month-long celebration of Japanese movies will once again serve up an exciting cross-section of Japan’s diverse movie cultures.

The tour of 13 titles will begin in Klang Valley at GSC Mid Valley, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC 1 Utama (10-16 September), before heading to Penang’s GSC Gurney Plaza (17–20 September), Kota Kinabalu’s GSC Suria Sabah (24–27 September) and lastly, Kuching’s GSC CityONE Megamall (1–4 October).

Renowned director Masato Harada will grace the opening ceremony at GSC Pavilion on Tuesday, 8 September, to present his latest release, Kakekomi. The samurai drama about feudal era divorce is a big hit in Japan and still attracts packed halls nearly four months after its release. The feature will also be the curtain-raiser for Kuching on 1 October.

All films are presented in Japanese with English subtitles. To find out more about movie details and screening schedules, visit jfkl.org.my or gsc.com.my.
