The pencil skirt is something that can be considered as classy and timless.  Celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria are famous for pulling off the pencil skirt. This fashionable piece is a risky choice – but it can be pulled off by anymore… as long as you wear it right! We’re listing out the things you should consider when you wear a pencil skirt!

DO: Wear them with heels. When wearing a pencil skirt – in a way, you tend to look a lot shorter than usual. So, wearing heels will give you that long and lean effect – perhaps a pair of nude or black stilettos might do the trick. Wearing flats will only you make you look stubby.

DO: Make it look vintage. The pencil skirt has been around for a pretty long time. In the 40’s it was a staple peices in a womans wardrobe. Stay true the the trend by making it look a little more vintage. How do you make it look more vintage? Curl your hair or even a simple gesture like make up will make a big difference.

DO:  Match it with colours. When you think of a black skirt – you imidiately think of black and white office wear. Well, there’s no need to stick to traditions there. Match it with colourful tops and patterns to spark up the look. In fact, try getting a pencil skirt that is coloured and not the usual black. It just makes the look even more fun and flirty.

DON’T: Wear it too far beyond the knees. When it comes to wearing a pencil skirt – it has to be the right length. You don’t want to look too short, do you? Keep the hemline just under the knees and you’ll be fine!

DON’T:  Wear it TOO high-waisted. A high-waisted skirt should be just above your belly button – don’t go wearing it as a push up bra. Wearing a high-waisted skirt will also shorten your torso – so don’t make it even shorter by putting it up so high.
