Does your “Pow-wow”s scare men?

When we say “Pow-wow”, we don’t mean anything physical or sexual per se. Hands up how many women often find it hard to get guys to date them? This applies especially to women who hold powerful positions (such as being a superior of an office department, for example).

Consider this:

Maybe it’s because no guy wants to feel like the “girl” in the relationship. Dating a woman who is in a better place than he is at work will leave him feeling inferior all the time. Whether or not they admit it (and we don’t blame them for thinking that way), men are generally inclined to wanting to be the one in charge or the one to be making all the decisions. Hence, a woman who’s in a high powered position or job might have everything (e.g. a great career, a rewarding salary, and perhaps great big bonuses annually) except love.

Yet, what’s a woman to do? Times have changed and both sexes are supposed to be equal now, right? Are women supposed to leave their high positions for the betterment of their personal relationships? Do we all resort to sacrificing our careers?

Here are some ways you can make it work:

1. Include him in all your decisions. Whether it’s for trivial female matters or work-related issues, ask for his opinions. It’s the best way to show him that his thoughts on what you do matters to you. Besides, they make great conversation topics after a long day being at work and away from each other.
2. Don’t control him or boss him around. Don’t bring your status at work into your relationship. If it’s already hard for him to accept that he’s dating a woman who’s more high-powered than him, the last thing he needs is a boss outside of work.
3. As much as you need to put emphasis the both of you being equals, be sure that you try to rely on him for certain things too. It can be as simple as matters that involve technical issues (e.g. cars, computers) that he’s well-versed in.
