Social media has been blowing up with the mysterious phrase “Om Telolet Om” and it’s been taking the music world by storm, especially amongst popular DJs such as Zedd and Martin Garrix. The question is.. What the hell is it?
Surprisingly, “Om Telolet Om” hails from Indonesia. Entertained by the local buses’ customised horns, youngsters in Indonesia have been waiting by the side of the road for the buses to pass, shouting “Om Telolet Om” to encourage bus drivers to toot their horns.
Some have even gone as far as to hold up signs with the words “Om Telolet Om,” which literally translates to, “Sir, honk your horn, sir.” But, what has it got to do with music?
It seems like these youngsters have also been spamming famous artists and DJs with the phrase “Om Telolet Om”. It’s safe to say that the response has been crazy.

Several DJs have even sampled the bus horns to capitalise on “Om Telolet Om”, and 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clafford also admitted to shouting “Om Telolet Om” at a bus in Australia. Wow..

If that’s not impressive enough, Dutch duo Firebeatz were amongst the first to integrate the bus horn sample into a song that’s posted onto YouTube. What a time to be alive..
As the phrase continues to go viral worldwide, we can only say that our respect for Indonesians has been upped by miles.
