ConfidenXUENLI Yours: My Favourite Vogue Covers Of ALL TIME!

I’m gonna be honest here: I’m not an avid reader of Vogue, but I do find myself paying attention to the Vogue covers, especially when it features a celebrity that I like. This month in particular (April 2022) features the queen, the intergalactic superstar Doja Cat. Hence, I’ve decided to showcase my favourite Vogue covers that I would gladly display on my table and maybe skim through once in a while. Before Vogue was all about airbrushed looks and photoshop (no tea, no shade), there was a time when its covers were truly stunning works of art, which is why I’d like to highlight some of those as well. Here are some of my favourite Vogue covers of all time!

Singapore Vogue April 2022

When I saw that Doja Cat was on the cover of Vogue, I was GAGGED. When I saw this cover, the first thing that came to mind were ’80s supermodels. The headpiece, the costume, everything shone, not to mention Doja’s stunning ’20s inspired thin brows! The top is adorned with sparkling sequins and jewels, and she sports an Alexander McQueen bustier, creating an ethereal look.

Taiwan Vogue May 2020

This one’s trippy. At first glance, you might think that this cover features a real human riding a Vespa with a goat at the back. This was, in fact, Vogue’s first CGI virtual cover. It’s amusing and strange, which is why it’s on this list!

Vogue December 2019

When the Vogue cover for December 2019 was revealed, there was a slew of mixed reactions. But, as a fan of Harry Styles and men in dresses (short skirts, to be precise), I thoroughly enjoyed this cover. Wearing a Gucci jacket and dress, Harry Styles is just blowing up a balloon in a field. What’s not to love about that?

Vogue June 2021

As a Billie Eilish fan, I was shook when she shed her layers and wore a latex skirt in her June 2021 Vogue cover. It was the polar opposite of her usual look, which is characterised by baggy and oversized clothing. I love this cover because of her dedication to maintaining control of her own image and her decision to collaborate with Vogue to create a series of photos of herself in a classic pin-up style, which is the antithesis of her brand.

British Vogue November 2021

Adele appeared on not one, but two Vogue covers. Though her American Vogue cover was spectacular, her British Vogue cover was the true highlight of her return since her last album was released five years ago. With her blown-out hair and defined brows, she reminded me of a ’90s supermodel!

Though I do love seeing some airbrushed celebrities on covers, I still appreciate the earlier Vogue covers that featured some gag-worthy artworks. So, here are some of my favourite artistic Vogue covers!
