A-lister Amanda Seyfried has opened up about dealing with mental illness. For over 11 years  now, the Mean Girls alum happen to be suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and revealed that she has been depending on SSRI drug, Lexapro. The medicine helps to treat anxiety and major depressive disorders.

When asked, Amanda commented that it is not a placebo effect–she doesn’t see why she should stop using the drug since it has helped her through a lot, especially when working in such an intense industry. Thinking she had a tumor in her brain, the actress got an MRI scan, only to be referred to a psychiatrist by the neurologist.

Even though most people don’t see mental illness as a ‘real’ health problem, it really is.

It’s certainly no funny business; you feel like the world is against you when it is not–and not everything is about you, but you surely feel that way as you’re feeling deeply vulnerable, insecure and lost. It can be treated, so please do seek for help.

People should be aware of how crucial mental illness can be. Think about it, just because you don’t have it, doesn’t mean it’s fictitious.
