Fashion bloggers sure do know how to induce us with envy with their majestic vacation pics on Instagram. Notice closely and you’ll find that there is always a recurring pattern throughout their feeds. For that reason, we’ve compiled six of the most common themes for you to note down so you could then flaunt your next dreamy vacay in the most picturesque way possible:
1. From the balcony – Find a suitable scenic view of skyscrapers, the ocean or some mountains from up above any balcony and you should be able to make it work. Do include the pretty railing in your photo and look for the ideal time so that the sun isn’t too harsh.
2. Scenic street or beach – Whenever you’re walking by a postcard-worthy street or rustic alleyways, strike a pose by turning the upper half of your body behind slightly and be mindful of people, cars or unsightly props that may distract from the effect you’re going for. It’s not necessary that you look directly into the lens.
3. The garden stroll – Lush greenery and blooming gardens seem to be a hit, and you too can trigger the same vibe. Walk through or simply take a step forward, and get someone else to snap the photo from behind. Do point out exactly how much greenery you’d like in your frame, and whether it’s a half body or full body shot.
4. From the hotel room – You can post photos of your gorgeous surroundings, but a pic from your fancy hotel room is sure to make an impact. Whether you’re on your laptop pretending to work from bed, or you’re curled up underneath the sheets for a #nomakeup photo, try to use natural sunlight as it looks way more natural.
5. Beach bum – To enhance your sunbathing photos, add props in different colours and prints into the mix. This could be your straw floppy hat, a vibrant beach towel, your floral scarf, sunscreen or some bottled tropical drinks. Experiment and use what you have on hand.
6. On the edge – We’re not sure why people love sitting on window and rooftop ledges or pool edges, but it works, especially if you have a magnificent background. Even if the lighting isn’t the best, you can always take advantage of your silhouette instead.
