5 Ways To Move On After A Bad Breakup

Breakups are never easy, especially if you and your ex-boyfriend did not end things in good terms. Some people take months and even years to heal from a devastating breakup. It’s true what they say, that time can heal a broken heart, but don’t you wish you could just erase old memories as easy and fast as you delete spams in your inbox? Here, we came up with five things you can do to move on faster:

1. Make an empowerment playlist

Download empowering music and make a post breakup playlist. Better yet, just buy all of Taylor Swift’s albums. She has a repertoire of songs that can relate to an entire generation of girls and women. Not a fan of Taylor? No worries, here are other good songs you can identify with and rock to: “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera, “Over It” by Katherine McPhee, “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette and “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce.

2. Focus on yourself

Sometimes all you’d want to do is stay in bed all day, eat a couple slices of pizza, watch He’s Just Not That Into You and cry more, but you have to remember that your ex is just a chapter in your book. It’s very important to not lose control of your life after a breakup. There are other things in life you should look forward to. Why not intern at that magazine you’ve always wanted to work with? Or head to the gym to let off some steam?

3. Spend time with family and friends

We just said that it’s important to busy yourself and concentrate on your life. Nevertheless, hanging out with family and friends can really heal your heartache. We don’t ever recall spending time with close friends without laughing. Unlike all your past boyfriends and some future ones, these people are permanent. A romantic relationship is not the only important relationship in your life, family and friends should be on top of your list too. Appreciate them.

4. Delete and block

This bit is extremely hard to do, but seriously, deleting all old conversations, pictures, social media accounts and their number really does help. If you keep all these memories on your phone, and you’re constantly stalking their Facebook page and Instagram photos, you will never truly move on. Sometimes, it’s not that particular person you’re missing, it’s the memories and the feeling of having company.

5. Stop talking about the breakup

Stop talking about it. The more you talk about the painful breakup, the harder it is to move on. It’s not the letting go that hurts, it’s the holding on. Restrain yourself from talking about your ex. Your world does not revolve around him and there is no use bashing your ex-boyfriend. If he is the only subject you talk about, you really need to reevaluate your life.
