Earlier this year, designer Nickolay Lamm created a ‘normal’ Barbie, which had proportions of an average 19-year-old woman. He also dubbed his creation Lammily.
Now, Lamm has made a new accessory for the dolls – Lammily Marks – to promote the beauty of reality. These clear stickers feature cellulite, stretch marks, freckles, acne, moles, tattoos, stitches, scars and more imperfections that are very human to all of us.
Additionally, Lamm has also made stickers that encourage an idea of girls doing stuff outside. There are also stickers for grass stains, bruises, scrapes, scratches and mosquito bites. There’s a blushing sticker as well.
“All fashion dolls look the same! I wanted to give them a realistic makeover,” Lamm told BuzzFeed. “The ‘imperfect’ nature of it isn’t an issue. I feel it makes the doll more relatable.”
“I want to show that average is beautiful,” said Lamm. That is indeed a very powerful message.
