An Indian woman who was seven months pregnant was burned alive by her husband in Myapur, India after her family failed to deliver wedding dowry – supposedly consisting of a motorcycle and a bull – to her husband’s family.
Rihana Shekh Dhafali was sent to the hospital immediately and suffered severe burns. Upon arriving at the hospital, her in-laws made her admit that the fire was an accident and that it was caused by her own carelessness.
She lost her baby during the ordeal, whereby kerosene was poured all over her.
After discovering about the incident, Rihana’s father flew in from Nepal to bring her home. It was then that Rihana told her father the truth.
She also revealed that her husband had previously inserted a lighted cigarette into her private part and that she was always disgraced over the wedding dowry.
Rihana is now in critical condition and she is in the process of recovery in a hospital at Kathmandu.
Her husband and father-in-law managed to flee but the police are currently investigating and searching for the duo.
