Jamie Oliver is back on TLC (Astro Channel 707) and he’s pairing up with his old childhood pal, farmer and TV presenter Jimmy Doherty in an exciting new food show – Jamie & Jimmy’s Food Fight Club – premiering every Thursday starting March 14 at 7pm. Ever since they were kids, Jamie and Jimmy have shared a passion for good food; now that they’re all grown up, they’re putting together their reputations on the line to prove that good British grub deserves its place on the world stage. Catch the encores every Friday at 10am and Saturday at 5pm.
Firm believers that British food is best, Jamie and Jimmy are returning home to take over an old seaside restaurant they used to frequent in the ’80s and reopen it as a pop-up cafe where they’ll be serving up their world-class fare to some of their mates. They’ll also be hitting the road to take on their continental cousins across the channel, putting the best British food against Europe’s finest.
In every episode throughout this four-part series, these life-long friends join forces to take their food fight on the road, driving across Europe in their trusty Ford Capri to prove to their European counterparts that British food can hold its own against the best the continent has to offer.
Each week will feature culinary challenges showcasing a different type of food. They check if British bangers measure up to the German Wurst; fight the French on the cheese board with the U.K’s fromage; put up British beer against the Belgian’s; and see whether English puddings can mess with the Godfathers of desserts in Italy.
Back home at their Food Fight Club cafe at the end of Essex’s famous Southend Pier, Jamie will rustle up tasty meals for some locals and a host of celebrity mates who drop by to sample their fare including Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow as well as pop star Gary Barlow. Jamie & Jimmy’s Food Fight Club is all about competition and their famous friends are not spared! The Essex twosome also challenge these celebrities in some light-hearted games. The first rule of Jamie and Jimmy’s Food Fight Club is that anything goes!
Along the way on this wacky adventure, Jimmy throws in a bit of a weird food science, the buddies share some amusing stories as they reminisce about their youth, and there is laughs aplenty.
