The world’s favorite baby, Prince George made his first public appearance at the Chapel Royal in St. James Palace for his christening. This is the young prince’s first appearance since his birth three months ago.

Dressed in a lace and satin christening grown, the young prince was gleeful as he was greeted by his family members, including great-grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Parents, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was sure to keep this significant event alive. Being baptized into the church means that he’s in line for the throne of England.

The christening was surprisingly small, compared to the larger ceremonies Prince George’s father and grandfather had in Buckingham Palace in the past.

Seven people were named Prince George’s godparents. Among them includes Prince William’s cousin Zara Tindall, Oliver Baker,  Emilia Jardine-Paterson,  and William van Cutsem. The other godparents are Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, a former private secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry; Julia Samuel, who was a good friend of William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales; and Earl Grosvenor, son of the Duke of Westminster.

Shortly after the christening service, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, held a private tea party at Clarence House, serving guests slices of christening cake.

The entire ceremony, from Prince George’s christening gown to the venue carried massive significance to the Royal Couple. The christening gown is a replica of one made in 1841 for the christening Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter. It was used in 2008 to preserve the 170-year-old original, in which Prince William was christened in too.

The venue, St. James’ Palace also has a special significance for Prince William. The body of his mother, Princess Diana rested in the Chapel Royal for five days before her funeral.

Celebrity photographer Jason Bell was also present to take an official photo of the Royal Family.
