6 Hiking Spots and Nature Trails in Klang Valley

Living in the hubbub of excitement in the city, there are times where you want to step back and unwind. Going out on nature trails and hiking is not only an inexpensive way to keep fit, but it also gives you a little piece of mind. The adrenaline rush fuels the energy in your body, and the sights, sounds and smell of nature does so much good to your body and soul. It’s time to get yourself a pair of hiking shoes because we’re listing down our top six hiking spots and nature trails that we highly recommend exploring.

1. Canopy Walk in FRIM

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is one of the Klang Valley’s best kept secret. Situated in Kepong, it is popular among tourists for its canopy walk. It’s really the place to be if you want to get in touch with Mother Nature without getting in the dirt! It’s also a pretty romantic place to spend time with your sweetheart, so do consider skipping the movies and get a taste of nature instead.

2. Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve Trail

The Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve Trail is the most convenient hiking trail in Kuala Lumpur since it’s literally in the middle of the city. It is the city’s last remaining green lung and it’s perfect for city dwellers who want a little fresh air. 3. Bukit Tabur

Bukit Tabur is one of the Klang Valley’s hidden gems. Bukit Tabur is for seasoned hikers will have to tackle rocky surfaces and the climb may take up to three to four hours. But the effort is all worth it. You get an immaculate view of the Klang Gates Dam and a hill that resembles the back of a dragon. Absolutely breathtaking!

4. Broga Hill

Broga Hill is talked about many hikers and nature enthusiasts. Many recommend hiking the hill as early as 5am just to catch the sunrise since there’s really no view quite like it. On the top of the hill, hikers can get a scenic view of the border of Selangor and Negri Sembilan, so it’s like being in two places at once! It’s only a 40-minute hike, and the trails are clearly marked so hiking will be a breeze for hikers, especially among newbies.

5. Bukit Gasing

Bukit Gasing a beauty amidst the hustle and bustle of suburbia. Located in the suburbs of Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya, the park is filled with families and friends seeking a little fresh air. The hill was once a rubber estate that was left idle, and it’s one of the few forests in Petaling Jaya that’s a natural habitat for wildlife in the city area.

6. Bukit Kiara

Bukit Kiara Hill is situated across Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Bukit Kiara, and is a very easy user-friendly place to hike, especially for newbies. The hill has a tarmac road that’s made for joggers and hikers, and there are clearly marked trails within the forest too. The area is also popular with cyclists. It’s a very friendly place to go, and there are even guards stationed at the entrance of the hill.
