We all come up with the excuse that saving up for a vacation is expensive. And while it can be expensive, it doesn’t mean you can save before hand for a trip you want to go on in seven months. Planning your travel budget doesn’t only begin at flight fares, but it also goes along with your accommodation, food budget, travel fees, shopping and making way for additional charges. Instead of guilting yourself to believe that you can spare yourself a vacation, be money smart and plan your vacation while saving your money with these tricks.

Be Flexible
We know it can be hard to plan a vacation at any random date in the future, but going ahead for cheap flights whenever they’re on sale is the way to go when it comes to traveling on a budget.

Travel Off-Season
Depending on where you plan to travel, look into the it’s shoulder seasons, where there the number of tourists coming in would be less. Summer may probably be the best time to visit Europe, and perhaps winter in Australia? The prices are low, the weather will definitely be unique and you’ll end up with beautiful pictures anyhow.

Think of Cheaper Alternatives
If you’re looking for a beach destination, you don’t really have to go to Thailand for that. We have a couple of beautiful destinations right in our country like Perhentian in the East Coast and Sipadan in the Eastern Peninsula of Malaysia.

Rent Hostels or Cheaper Accommodation
Chain hotels can be expensive, and they’ll come up extra charges, it’ll only hurt your credit card. Make use of hostels or even apartment rentals with cooking facilities. That way you can also save up on your dining.

Sign Up for Local Discounts
Before you head out to a new city, make use of the local discount sites like Groupon to get on the good deals, especially with dining, accommodation and recreational activities. You’ll be glad to get in on these deals because they’re sometimes a dream come true!

Buy Currency Before You Travel
Whenever you notice that the travel exchange rates are low, this is when you want to start exchanging your currency so that you can get more for a little. This also means that you can stretch out your budget a little more.
