Galaxy prints are here for stay! The trend started sometime back last year and seems to have no wavered since. Handphone cases are the best way to dress up your phone and sometimes certain phones may not have covers that you desire. Here’s a way to make a galaxy handphone case without much hassle!
Things you will need:
- -Acrylic paint
- -Sponge (any kind of sponge can be used, I used make up sponge)
- -Plain handphone case (preferably black)
- -Old newspaper
My plain black handphone case had white fonts on it, so I started off with dabbing black paint on it to cover it. It doesn’t have to be completely neat because you’ll be covering it with other colours later.
Firstly, dip your sponge into light blue paint, dab excess paint off on paper (as shown above) and then proceed to gently dab in on the phone case. It doesn’t have to be in any particular design, so I just randomly did some pattern.
After dabbing the light blue paint, you can start with the next colour which is a dark blue. I used the dark blue as more of a outline for the light blue (which means I don’t overlap it, instead dab along the sides).
Then I used white, and did a pattern across the phone case. This will be your main guideline for how you want the galaxy to look like. You can even do a spiral design, but I opted for something more simple and basic.
I used purple to dab across the out line of the white, and also added splotches here and there. There’s not fixed way to do this, I recommend just having fun with it! It can always be fixed.
I basically covered most of the handphone case with paint (as shown in picture above).
This is where the black paint comes in. The black paint acts as a cover up for mistakes and to give the galaxy look more depth. I dabbed black paint along the places where I felt I had filled it up with too much colour. Remember when you using the black, here’s where you control what your end result looks like!
When done with the black, use a little bit of yellow (very little!) and just do tiny sponging in places you’d like to add some colour. I used it mostly to enhance the white parts.
You’re almost done! Here’s where you add your stars to the galaxy!
I used white paint, and a needle to make tiny dots. Again, this was done at a random. I suggest doing them in clusters to make it look more realistic. If you want it to last longer, use a clear spray and spray one coat. And you’re done! Here’s my end result:
I also attempted the galaxy on a plain black faux leather file, and here’s the end result!;
Basically, you can do this galaxy print on almost anything as the options are endless! Old shoes, t-shirts, jars, anything!
