One of our favorite televisions shows were in fact from the 90s. Apart from just entertaining us, the characters from each of these shows were so significant in our lives that they ended up being the people we ‘grew up’ with. Although there are a lot of current TV shows that are just too good to stop watching, it’s time to give them a break, and take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of the best shows from the 90s.
1. Friends
Guy or girl, you know for a fact that you just can’t resist watching reruns of Friends for an entire day. Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe and Joey were such iconic characters, they ended up being household names, and even actual ‘friends’ we grew up with.
2. My So-Called Life
Whoever knew Jared Leto before his days in 30 Seconds to Mars, would probably remember his puppy eyes in My So-Called Life. Also starring Homeland’s Claire Danes, My So-Called Life was one of the few shows to spread the whole 90’s teenage angst trend. Possibly one of the best high-school drama shows ever, it’s time to ditch Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars and spend the night with this duo.
3. Boy Meets World
Boy Meets World was probably enjoyed by both boys and girls as it tells the coming of age of Cory Matthews. The TV show ran for about 7 years, with its last episode in 2000. The story builds up with friendship and what appeals most is the relationship he has with his girlfriend, Topanga, and best friend, Shawn. Boy Meets World is one of those rare sitcoms with a lot of emotional substance – you’ll laugh, you’ll cry. But most of all, it really teaches you a thing or two about growing up.
4. All That
In the 90’s Nickelodeon a TV-channel that defined your early teen years, and All That was just someone anyone couldn’t miss. The show ran for about 10 seasons, and really. How could anyone ever forget that theme song. Some of the best sketches you’ll definitely remember would be Good Burger, The Loud Librarian, and of course, Everyday French with Pierre Escargot.
5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Who could ever forget Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Rated as one of the 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, it’s probably one of the few iconic shows that really showed how a woman could kick some a**. From vampires, to weird monsters and demons, is there anything that Buffy can’t do?
6. Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Are you Afraid of the Dark involves a group of that calls themselves ‘The Midnight Society’, and meet up every week to tell a horror story. The stories revolves around a variety of paranormal phenomena like ghosts, goblins, magic, curses and more. We highly recommend staying in with your friends and spend hours of reruns.
7. Charmed
Ah, the ”Power of Three”. We remember spending our Wednesday nights after school work to Charmed. Probably one of the hottest witches we were first introduced to, these girls also kicked quite a lot of butt. These witches are certainly the company you need for a weekend indoors!
8. The Nanny
Good old Fran Drescher, her intense laugh, and those vivid printed suits. According to rumors, The Nanny was supposedly based on Drescher’s life, working as a nanny for high-society kids. But whether it’s true or not, that show certainly has a lot of pizzazz, and Drescher’s sense of humor will never ever disappoint.
