Dear Ms. Lipstiq
I know i may sound a little too paranoid, but i can’t help but feel as though my best friend is in love with my boyfriend. I’ve been with my boyfriend for just over a year now – and at first, i didn’t pay much attention to this, but now i’ve come to realize that my best friend is ALWAYS around. Even when i don’t ask her, she’s around. She’ll go out with me and my boyfriend when ever we go for movies or random dates. Of course, I don’t mind her company. The problem is that every time we go out, she’s glued beside my boyfriend and they end up talking for hours on end, leaving me to walk behind her. Recently, it’s gotten a little too out of control. She’s now texting my boyfriend on a daily basis – and i’m really not comfortable with it. I don’t know what to say or do anymore. It’s all a little hard to digest. What do i do?
Lisa S.
Hi Lisa,
What you’re going through is a little complicated – and it’s something all of us never wish to face. But the matter of the fact is, you think you’re best friend likes your boyfriend, but do you think it may be the opposite too? Either way, both scenarios won’t end so well on your part, and the last thing you want is to get hurt over something you expected. Since this girl is your best friend, the best option is to talk to her about exactly what you feel. She may get offended but be sure to remind her that it’s your heart at stake too and that she is your best friend and you should be able to come to her about such a thing. If that goes well (or doesn’t), sit your boyfriend down and make it clear to him too. Tell him how you feel, what your worried about and hopefully the bother understand. If they don’t, then that’s their loss because you’ve already made it clear to BOTH of them about how you feel, and that is what is important. We really hope this works in favor of you, so chin up!
