If you don’t own or use mascara, where on earth are you from?! Ask any woman what her go-to makeup product is, and most would say MASCARA! But the thing about mascara is that it dries out fast – something you discover too late, as you’re rushing to get ready for a date! But don’t panic yet girl! Here are some tips and tricks for you to get the best out of your mascara to level up your lash game.
1. Use hot water
Completely dry mascara is a lost cause – it should be discarded! But this approach can be used if your mascara is about to dry out and you need to use it because you don’t have any other option. Submerge it in warm water until the wand is clean. Then, re-insert the wet mascara wand into the tube and rub it against the interior walls. The heat will soften the mascara in the tube, allowing it to be applied smoothly. Another way is to dip the entire mascara tube in hot water for few minutes.
2. Don’t pump it!
The biggest mistake we make is pumping our mascara wand before we apply it. Pumping introduces air (and germs) into the liquid, which causes it to dry out quickly. Pull out the wand to apply mascara, then return it to the tube.
3. Use saline/eyedrop solution
If your mascara is starting to dry up, you can loosen it up for a few more applications. 4-5 drops of the solution should suffice. Insert your wand and stir; repeat this process 2-3 more times until all of your mascara is gone.
4. Prep your lashes
We depend on mascara for more volume, but this doesn’t work as well with old mascara. It’s definitely too dry, and tends to flake and drop. What you can do is use primer on your lashes to strengthen and condition them. This will add volume to your lashes, and you’ll only need one coat of mascara for fuller-looking lashes.
5. Emergency dye
You may be surprised when I tell you that mascara can be used on your hair and brows too! You know that moment when you’re all ready to head out and suddenly, you notice white/grey hairs. Definitely no time to dye them – so grab your mascara wand and do a cover-up job. Super easy, isn’t it? What’s more, this will help keep your baby hairs in place. You could use this same technique for your brows. It’s like an all-in-one fixer wand!
