The curtains may have come down on the first season of the new Gossip Girl series, but fans are dying to hear what the OG cast members think about the revival of their most influential work. And good news for Upper East Siders, because Leighton Meester – the actress who plays Blair Waldorf – said she’s totally down for a comeback!
In an interview with ELLE, Leighton not only discussed her opinions on the remake, but also stated that she had seen the programme and, guess what, she enjoyed it! “I think that’s amazing,” she said, adding, “I’m very glad for them finding a new approach with it.” The 35-year-old star also revealed that her past life playing the daughter of fashion designer Eleanor Waldorf – and the self-appointed leader of Manhattan’s Upper East Side – still has a huge impact on her present-day life. I mean, the character is iconic, so we ain’t surprised.
When asked whether she’d ever make a special guest appearance on the Gossip Girl reboot, the mom of two teased the possibility – that is, if she’s ever asked. “It’s interesting that it can continue to be something that means a lot to even this generation. And so the fact that they can capture some of that magic, while making it its own thing is quite a feat and really cool.” So, it’s a YES, yes?
Leighton Meester will forever be remembered by Gossip Girl fans (including us) for her legendary portrayal of Blair Waldorf. Whether you were a Serena fan or a die-hard Queen B fan, there’s no disputing that her smart one-liners, preppy-meets-glam attire, and sly demeanor made her one of the finest characters in the whole six-season series.
