Searching for the ultimate Christmas table setting that’ll make your dinner look like it’s worth a million dollar plus a lot of effort? Then you’re in luck. Because we’ve found some ideas that are simply easy breezy, and as with all Lipstiq traditions, requires very little work. And maybe some amount of recycling.
So, table settings.
We already know that the food has to look appetizing. But let’s make your guests want to dig in more when you throw on a few “dinner highlights” on the dining table. And no, we’re not talking about garnishing.
It’s a wrap
The simplest trick in the Christmas table setting book is to get a red table cloth and throw it over your dinner table. Then, add a strip of shiny green or gold down the middle. Viola! A glamorous table runner and the “gift wrap” effect. Oh, and be sure to get dinnerware that matches!
Bauble-ing beauty
If you have extra baubles from your Christmas tree deco stash, then shine them up real nice and toss a few onto the table. Make sure you get a few of different sizes and colours. Just a handful would be sufficient as you don’t want it to get in the way of dinner.
Alternatively, you could toss a few into a large glass bowl and set it right smack in the middle of everything. The results? An instant centerpiece that’s pretty to look at and you won’t have any baubles rolling off the table halfway through dinner.
Light up, light up
Get tea light candles from IKEA (they’re selling for about RM12 for 100 pcs), line a clear vase with weighty, colourful beads and fill it up three-quarter way with water. Float a few tea light candles in them, light them up (of course) and you’re done!
You may choose to dot your dinner table with a few more but if you want it to be less of a fire hazard and kid-friendly, then omit the option.
As classy as wine
If you have empty wine bottles that are yet to be recycled, then here’s a good way to put them to good use. To remove labels, soak them in warm water for about 20 minutes or so. It should be easy to just lift them off after. Rinse them all and clean them up real nice. Then, fill the bottles with drinking water.
Instant elegance for a festive feast, served!
Get artsy with place cards
Get organized and make proper seating arrangements for your guests by printing out cute place cards. If you’re too lazy to think of a design, then start rejoicing because we’ve found a few templates that you could use from here.
Print out a tree place card or a red holly-leaf place card, personalize them with your guests’ names, place them on their plates and your dinner is good to go!
