Christmas 2011: Tis the season for lovin’

Like weddings, the holiday season calls for gatherings with friends and family almost every other day. December is a romantic month of sorts, the holiday mood seems to mellow everyone and it’s also that time of the year where new relationships are formed, if you get what we mean.

If you and your other half have been together for as long as anyone can remember, hanging out with your side of the family and his should be something everyone looks forward to. It’s comforting to have so much love at this time of the year and here’s why you should count your blessings that you’re in a relationship:

Spending quality time together
Take time to relish all the goodies Christmas has to offer. Do everything together from shopping for gifts, wrapping them up to cooking up a mean meal on Christmas eve. Sweep the stress from work under the carpet and just have fun together.

Breaking the ice
If you’re bring him over to meet the folks for the very first time, then it’s bound to be a memorable day for everyone. Get ready to be bombarded with awkward questions and plenty of, “Don’t be shy, eat up!” Introducing your boyfriend to the family only means that things are serious between the both of you and will make you both stronger as a couple.

Couple fun
It can get boring at family events especially if the age gap is wide and you’re not really close to anyone so having your significant other along means you don’t have to spend the whole night Facebook-ing on your mobile.

“Who’s that, again?”
Chances are if you both have been together for awhile, now would be a good time to meet up and put a face to the names he’s been telling you about. You’ll also get to know the relationship between him and his other relatives a little better.

Divide the load
Catching up with family is hard work but with your other half in tow, he’ll be able to finish your sentences or do his part of the story telling as well.

Also remember to keep tempers low because there’s plenty of decision making to be done and this can lead to petty arguments which really isn’t worth fighting for. Tis the season for lovin’ so have fun and cuddle up!
