Next time you’re at the airport, be careful with the B-word. We mean ‘bomb’.
Fifteen people have been arrested for uttering the word ‘bomb’ in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and KLIA2 since last year. According to District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Ali, legal action were taken against the 15, who were charged with criminal intimidation.
Using the word ‘bomb’ even as a joke could land a person in trouble with the law. Under Code 92 of the Airport Emergency Plan, the word ‘bomb’ is categorised as a threat and a serious offence. So, even if you utter it as a joke, or by accident, you will be restrained for an explanation.
If you want to go ahead and risk it, sure, but you should know that you can either be jailed for seven years, or be faced with a penalty that would will be decided upon by the court.
