Some consider themselves hairdressers, others, stylists. Then, there’s Miss Takako. The Master Stylist from Japan understands hair trends and her unique Japanese approach sets her apart. Recently, she was in Kuala Lumpur to impart her knowledge and to mentor up-and-coming hair professionals at 76Style Mont Kiara. According to her, the malleable nature of how each head of hair should be styled is what gives her joy.
Miss Takako reveals that she gets her inspiration from New York, and she would add her Japanese influence and sensibilities to the mix. She explained, “The style now is to be cool with a strong hair line in a style that is also elegant which I’ve modified to suit Asian hair.”
As Malaysians seem to favour colours, she shared some tips for hair-colour enthusiasts to try out:
“If your outfit is already standing out, then your hair should not be detracting from it with a shade that’s too busy. Try highlights that you like, it’s not a stereotype that only certain individuals (can) highlight their hair, as there are many variations that you can play with.”
