Make way for one the youngest mother in the world. If you thought being 15 is way too early to be a mother, wait till you hear about Dafne’s story.
Dafne is only 9 years-old, and reportedly delivered a 5.7 pound baby through a Cesarean section in late January in Mexico.
Lino Ginzalez Corona, a spokesperson at Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office, Dafne was only 8 years old when she became pregnant. “This is a rape or child sex abuse case”, he said. He continued, “Due to her young age, we don’t know if she is entirely truthful”. According to UNICEF, the age of sexual consent in Mexico is 12.
The mother of 9-year-old mother told officials, “The father is a young boy who is 17, but we have not found him, since he ran away”. Dafne is one of 11 children in her family, and her parents were unable to watch over her while they worked. (Source)
