A 9-year-old girl and her father are traveling up to 31 major cities in China on foot and through hitchhiking.  From January 20th, the father-daughter team traveled across 11 cities, and by February 2, they’ve been to Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Hohhot, Tianjin, Lanzhou, Chengdu and Chongqing.

The trip that’s meant to be a winter vacation adventure, will be accomplished by Feng Jinghan, a primary school student from Jinzhou in Northeast China’s Liaoning province, and her father, Feng Yongli, a van driver.

Sources say that the duo hitchhiked for long distance journeys, but depended on buses and their feet while they were in cities. For the first two weeks of the trip, the two avoided hotels for accommodation due to a tight budget, but they took rest breaks in hospitals, banks and gas stations. They also depended on instant noodles for food.

Feng Yongli, the father, told the Chongqing Morning Post that he long trek made his daughter’s feet swell, but she kept her spirits high as she enjoyed the journey and was having fun. In Chongqing, the duo visited children’s hospitals and sent their wishes to sick children.

The father-daughter team were expected to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Guangzhou or Shenzhen, and are expected to be home before February 24th, ahead of the new school semester.
